Fikaris

MP Fikaris is a multidisciplinary artist whose career has spanned 20 years. Initially a central figure in both Melbourne’s comic art zines and street art movements in the early 2000s, Fikaris has expanded their oeuvre into print making, art publishing and large-scale painting.

MP Fikaris is a multidisciplinary artist whose career has spanned 20 years. Initially a central figure in both Melbourne’s comic art zines and street art movements in the early 2000s, Fikaris has expanded their oeuvre into print making, art publishing and large-scale painting.

Fikaris has worked extensively on projects locally and internationally with various communities, art institutions and educational bodies. As an art publisher and community-driven project leader, Fikaris has been coordinating printed anthologies under the name Silent Army since 2002 and was awarded the Platinum Ledger Award for outstanding service to Australian comics in 2017. 

Fikaris has work held in permanent collections around the world, as well as locally with NGV (Living Artists Collection) and NGA (Book Arts Collection). In 2021, Fikaris is launching a new screen-printed, handbound book with the Italian publishing house Strane Dizioni. Fikaris is currently a visiting fellow at The Institute of Postcolonial Studies in North Melbourne.
