Known for their off-kilter ‘art pop’ and dynamic energy, Melbourne three-piece Jaala is fronted by the enigmatic Cosima Jaala, who delivers bold and plaintive vocals with jaggedly syncopated guitar lines, alongside complex rhythms prodigiously executed by drummer Maria Moles, and otherworldly synth palettes generated by electronic artist Fia Fiell.

Jaala’s genre-defying debut album Hard Hold (Wondercore Island, 2015) received national acclaim and their follow-up Joonya Spirit (Bedroom Suck Records, 2018) was named Album of the Week on triple j, 3RRR, FBi and RTR and nominated for the Australian Music Prize.
Jaala’s forthcoming third album, Gap Tooth, the band’s first album in its current three-piece formation, is a departure from their previous output – trading the raw urgency of the previous records for experimental folk and baroque dream pop in a melting and celestial surreality.
