Ruofan Lei is a Melbourne-based digital artist and architectural designer. Born in Nanjing, he moved to Australia as a teenager and later studied architecture in university, completing his master’s degree in 2016.

Lei is inspired by the work of artists including Moebius, Hergé and Satoshi Kon; as well as architects such as Cedric Price. As an artist, storyteller and designer, Lei uses his art to explore the function of modern-day society through a spectator’s lens.

In these illustrations, he depicts the quality of space in which the events occur and where architecture is inseparable from storytelling.
