He primarily uses oil paint, but has years of experience working with aerosol and creating large-scale murals.

Bakar’s visual practice is focused through the study of form, beauty, colour, and his interest in ethnobotany. He draws on a range of stylistic influences including arthouse cinema, early 20th century jazz movements, hip hop, impressionism, and his own heritage and roots.

These influences are mixed together with his keen interest in music as an informal student of aural history, his extensive collection of musical media spanning the last century, and his work as a DJ and curator with the Inward Goods event team.
