Bitumen is a Hobart-born, four-piece group making industrial, electronic, metallic-edged music that combines cutting guitars with synths, samples, electronic drums, and alternatively confrontational and melancholic vocals.

Bitumen is a Hobart-born, four-piece group making industrial, electronic, metallic-edged music that combines cutting guitars with synths, samples, electronic drums, and alternatively confrontational and melancholic vocals.

Since debuting in 2016, the band has garnered a reputation for its expansive sound and intense live performances, leading to invitations to play alongside the likes of Lydia Lunch, Peter Murphy, The Chameleons, Drab Majesty, and JP Shilo, as well as performances at festivals including Dark Mofo, Country Daze and Brunswick Music Festival.

In 2021, Bitumen are set to release their sophomore LP Cleareye Shining, following up from 2018’s Discipline Reaction (released on Melbourne label Vacant Valley).
